2024.02.22 Pat's Visit To New Orleans
Pat, D'Arcy's brother from Victoria BC, visited with us for 10 days in New Orleans. We picked him up at the airport just after the Jam at Dmac's Monday night Feb. 12th. We arranged with Kent who owns the building on Burgundy to rent an apartment to Pat. Kent is the son of Bert the owner of the campsite where we are camping while we stay in Chalmette, New Orleans.
As soon as we got Pat settled into his place the first night we all went to "Buffa's". There was Karaoke so Pat sang "For What it's Worth" and D'Arcy sang "Runaway." I watched and did what I do best. I took pictures
On Tuesday Feb 13, Mardi Gras Day, we all went to see the Rex parade in Uptown New Orleans and we all enjoyed ourselves. It is the first time we went to the Rex Parade since we started coming to New Orleans and we enjoyed it with Pat. On our way home from the Rex Parade all traffic was slow and would you believe we got into a minor accident. A car hit our truck from behind. No one was hurt. We all went to Melba's for dinner.
On Wednesday Feb 14, we all went to BMC where D'Arcy played at the Crescent City Jam hosted by "The Next Level Band."
On Thursday Feb 15, we took Pat to visit the Chalmette Battlefield where the Battle of New Orleans was fought. The battle was actually fought in Chalmette, not in New Orleans. It was also fought two weeks after the war ended. Then Pat visited our RV before we went out to Rocky and Carlos for dinner. Then we all went to town where we all went to Cafe du Monde for Beignets and Hot Chocolate. Then D'Arcy sat in with "Eclectic Soul Project (ESP)" at BMC.
On Monday, Feb 19, we all went to Dmac's to see D'Arcy play keys at Danny Alexander's Blues Jam.
Tuesday night, Feb 20, we took Pat to Café Negril for John Lisi and Delta Funk's Super Most Fantastic Blues and Such Jam where D'Arcy played keyboard and guitar.
On Wednesday Feb 21 we went downtown and took the green trolley up through the Garden District and ate at Thai Mint on S Carrollton before heading down to BMC for another Crescent City Jam.
On Thursday, Feb 22 we took Pat to Capt. Sal's for his first taste of crawfish. Then we took him home where we said goodbye as he was returning home the next morning.
So I would say Pat enjoyed himself while he was here.
