2023.11.01 Heading to New Orleans
This is our third year in Wildwood Golf and RV Resort. We love it. The people are so very friendly and very helpful here. The entertainment here is awesome. But it is time to say goodbye for another winter. We will be back next spring. We are hooking up our RV and heading to New Orleans.
After a quick side trip to Tisdelle RV in Tilbury to get some last minute fixes we headed for the border. Since we hadn't had breakfast yet we stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Monroe Michigan. We like the Cracker Barrel because they usually have parking for RVs like ours. We then headed south. We couldn't find a campground so we stayed overnight in a rest stop in Shepherdsville, KY.
Next morning we left early and headed to Denny's in Franklin, KY for breakfast and then continued down I-65 to Helena, AL where we stayed at Cherokee Campground. This is our second time staying there. We remembered the 20 lb propane tanks that were painted orange with faces as permanent Halloween pumpkins.
The next morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast in our RV and then headed south again. We switched to I-20 and I-59 to Poplarville, MS where we stayed at Haas-Cienda Ranch RV.
Finally, after nearly 1,200 miles (1,900 km) we arrived safe and sound in our regular winter home in Chalmette, LA. We set up and then went shopping for propane and groceries. Because we emptied most of our food before leaving, our grocery bill was a whopping US$200. Hopefully we are stocked up for a while.
Usually we head to Frenchmen Street in New Orleans as soon as we get here but we were so tired we decided to wait until the next night. We can't wait.
