2017.12.10 Congo Square Drum Circle

Yesterday D'Arcy and I went to Congo Square where the Congo Square Preservation Society presents a drum circle every Sunday. During the wonderful drumming one of the ladies said some words of wisdom while the other two ladies take each their turn at pouring water from the coloured bottle.

The reason for this is to try to keep there culture alive.

D'Arcy participated in the drum circle with the smallest conga drum I took some pictures as always. There was some dancing.

At the end someone told D'Arcy after he drummed all afternoon, and very well may I add, that he could not drum with a ring on his finger.

Next Sunday D'Arcy and I will go with his guitar because there are amps there that you can just plug in.

Then we went to have supper at Kermit Ruffins restaurant called Kermit's Tremé Mother In Law Lounge. D'Arcy talked with Kermit and Jerry his drummer.

We went in to a Maurice's Music Store on Decatur and got into a conversation with a man about how Mardi Gras were started. The man was one of the men who started WWOZ radio station. After the fascinating conversation we said our good byes.

Then we went to Vaso on Frenchmen Street to see some of the Tip Jar Junkies Band who D'Arcy sat in with on the December 3rd.

Ready for another busy day in New Orleans.
