2017.11.18 Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival

D'Arcy and I took our lawn chairs and headed to the our first Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival at Louis Armstrong Park. With weather at 75 degrees and sunny it was a great day. The festival is put on by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.

We had a blast. There was a big crowd and the bands were great. We had some Creole Filé Gumbo from Lil Dizzy's booth. Miss Lucy said to us as she served the gumbo "I thought you guys would be here".

The Bands were Tuba Skinny, Tremé Brass Band, Original Pinstripe Brass Band, Free Agents Brass Band and To Be Continued (TBC) Brass Band. Of course they all got great applause and dancing. Even the work men got in the groove. People were playing tambourines and frottiers (washboards). Someone handed D'Arcy a frottier and he also was grooving to the music while I was taking pictures. Someone else handed him a tambourine later.
