Banana Nut Bread

1/3 c. shortening (or margarine)
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 c. mashed RIPE bananas
1/2 to 3/4 c. chopped nuts

Oven to 350 degrees.

Cream shortening and sugar.  Add eggs and beat well.  Sift dry ingredients
and add alternately with mashed bananas, blending well.  Stir in nuts.

Bake in greased 9x5x3" pan for ~50 min.  Cool on rack.  Wrap in foil 
and store over night before slicing.
